The sixteenth season of Doctor Who ran between 2nd September 1978 and 24th February 1979. It consisted of the following stories:
- The Ribos Operation
- The Pirate Planet
- The Stones of Blood
- The Androids of Tara
- The Power of Kroll
- The Armageddon Factor
This season saw the introduction of companion Romana, first played by Mary Tamm, and of the Black and White Guardians. This was also the first season to be anchored round a central theme, namely, the Doctor and Romana's quest for the Key to Time.
