The Sun Singers of Akhet was a name given to those who worshipped the Old God, the sentient planet of Akhaten. Inhabitants of the seven neighbouring planets believed that life in the universe originated on Akhaten; the Holy Pyramid, located in a small asteroid orbitting the planet being a site of holy importance to the Singers. The Eleventh Doctor believed that their creation myth was "a nice story."
Once every millienia, Sun Singer pilgrims travelled to Tiaanamat to take part in the Festival of Offerings and offer memories to the Old God.
