Mrs Pritchard was formerly the wife of George Pritchard and mother to Gwendoline until their Josiah Samuel Smith took of their home, Gabriel Chase. Smith removed all knowledge of her relationship with her daughter from Mrs. Pritchard (who Smith made his ward).
