This text is dummy text which will be taken away eventually. It is necessary to sometimes dump text of a certain length onto a page in order to get the system to realise that a new page has been created. Wikia have been advised of this problem, have admitted that it needs to be fixed, but yet have done sweet fanny about it. Consequently, we must sometimes put dummy text onto pages for no good reason. Please do not remove this text, as it won't be here long. Thank you.

In April of 1960, the BBC's Head of Serials, Donald Wilson, established the Monitoring Group, also known as the Survey Group, whose job was to keep the BBC informed about current trends in various genres of entertainment. In 1962, a report on science fiction programming possibilities by this body led to the creation of Doctor Who.
