The French Revolution was a book given by Coal Hill School history teacher Barbara Wright to her pupil Susan Foreman. Susan, who had visited the revolutionary period with her grandfather immediately noted errors in the book. (DW: An Unearthly Child). Later, Ace found a copy of the book in a science laboratory in Coal Hill School. (DW: Remembrance of the Daleks)

The prop book in the stories looked rather different, having a cover in one story and none in the other.
