1918 was the year of a major flu epidemic. Colonel Hugh Curbishley caught it, and was "never the same" again. (TV: The Unicorn and the Wasp)

Gerald Carter and Harriet Derbyshire investigated a temporal phenomenon for Torchwood Three in Cardiff. A future version of Tommy Brockless told them to freeze his present self in the hospital to be awakened later.
