Writing in Green was the ninth story in the Bernice Summerfield anthology Something Changed. It was written by Dave Hoskin.

- On Earth the acacia tree symbolizes the future, while onn Mars it symbolizes children, as well as fire, plague, and unexpected violence.
- On Mars, Marigolds were ground into a tea that cured toothache.
- Martians wear red willow to ward off evil.
- On Mars, white roses symbolize secrecy.
- There are eucalyptus trees on the Braxiatel Collection.
- Humans have a better sense of smell than Martians.
- In the alternate timeline described in this story, Jason Kane's face is scarred by the history machine and he has a daughter with Benny named Acacia. Hass is this alternate daughter's godfather.
Notes
- Like most of the other stories in this anthology, this story takes place in an altered timeline created by Doggles' history machine; these timelines are (mostly) erased when Braxiatel returns things to normal.
