Joseph Longfoot was a churchwarden outside a small Cornish village. He had previously been a pirate under Captain Avery. Longfoot knew where Avery's treasure was hidden, and fearing that his former crewmates would eventually catch up with him, gave the First Doctor clues to its location. Shortly afterwards he was stabbed and killed by Cherub. (TV: The Smugglers)
