Glasses are a set of lenses set into frames that allow for enhanced or altered sight.

Use

He would utilised a pair of 3D glasses when observing the effects of the Void and its effect on other people and objects. (DW: Doomsday)

It is interesting to note that in Time Crash that the Tenth Doctor said that the Fifth Doctor did not need glasses, he would wear them to make him look smarter.
