Shrieves or shrieves-at-arms were the guard force on Ribos. They were led by their captain and assigned to protect the crown jewels in the city of Shur.

Two Shrieves joined the captain in the morning and evening relic-room ceremonies, lighting and extinguishing the domes with the captain's staff, and lowering and raising the entrance to the Shrivenzale's chamber. Another Shrieve fed the Shrivenzale each morning.

Shrieve night-sentries carried whistles to alert the Watch, but were known to sleep on duty. Not highly professional, others were known to accept a drink, or talk among themselves rather than keep watch. (TV: The Ribos Operation)
