Shan Shen was a planet. It has inhabited by Humans (or, at least, a near-Human species) with a Chinese culture. It was a carnival world, with the streets filled with flags, pagodas and various crowded stalls.

The Doctor took Donna Noble to Shan Shen. Donna had her fortune read by a Fortune Teller working with the Trickster's Brigade.

After the attempt to change history backfired, all of the writing on the planet - including that on the Doctor's TARDIS - changed into the phrase "Bad Wolf"; it's not known whether the writing subsequently reverted back to normal. (DW: Turn Left)

Although the culture of Shan Shen appears to be closely based upon that of Earth's China, Donna, in talking to the Fortune Teller, refers to Earth in a way that suggests the inhabitants of this planet are unfamiliar with it, despite their apparent origins.
