Gita Chandra was the wife of Haresh, and mother of Rani Chandra.

Profile

Gita and her family to Bannerman Road with her family when children were being abducted by a clown known as Odd Bob the Clown. When she first met Sarah Jane Smith she told her that Rani wanted to be a Journalist like Sarah and believed Rani to be doing work experience with Sarah as she was defeating the Pied Piper.

Gita was an easy-going, sociable person. In contrast with Maria's mother, she quickly embraced her neighbors from over the road, and saw them as chiefly positive influences on her daughter's life. She also appeared to have a strong bond with her husband. She claimed that the reason she had recently gained weight was because her husband had a Dawn French fetish. (SJA: Day of the Clown)

She was a a Gemini and as such was one of the first to be taken over by Truman and the Ancient Lights. She became a member of Truman's inner circle, although seemed to have no memory of what happened during the incident after Trueman was defeated. (SJA: Secrets of the Stars)

In Enemy of the Bane she was kidnapped by Mrs Wormwood and put in a trance. She did this to catch Sarah Jane's attention. Gita was rescued when the Bane tried to catch and eat Mrs Wormwood alive. She seemed to have no memory of the incident.
