The 'Scorchies were a species that had no form that arrived on planets which have invented television to destroy them.
Biology
The Scorchies had no physical form after their planet was destroyed, so they took the form of puppets to attract viewers to their show.
History
The Scorchies was a given name to the species, the original name is not given. They originated from a planet which had only recently discovered television by Professor Baffle. A species came along and destroyed the planet through television.
