Taran androids were intricate androids which looked exactly like the human colonists of Tara. They were created as replacements when 90% of the population died when Tara was struck by a plague.

Similar in appearance to Kraal androids, these models function was to look like humans, although one could be fitted with a laser weapon in its stomach.

An android of Prince Reynart was used to distract Grendel of Gracht from assassinating him with an android of Princess Strella. The android was used in Reynart's place at his coronation and the Fourth Doctor, suspecting an attempt on the Prince's life, threw a javalin that destroyed the android Strella.
