Jethro is seen wearing dark clothes and has painted nails in the fashion of a present day "Emo" or "Goth". This is probably due to a rebellion against his over-protective and over-powering parents.

Though he is a typical rebellious teenager taking pleasure in irritating his mother as he tends to back down in the face of his father and both of his parents' constant criticism, which led to him eventually helping the other passengers in their attempt to throw [[the Doctor]] from the shuttle rather than continue defending him as he had previously done.

Jethro Cane was the son of Val and Biff. He was on holiday with his parents to see the planet Midnight but it all went wrong as a sinister force attacked the shuttle bus and the knocking on the walls began.(DW: Midnight)
