Ken Kesey was a significant figure in the counterculture movement of the late 1960s that was centred in the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco. He inspired an entourage of followers called the Merry Pranksters. (PROSE: Wonderland)

Though unremarked in Wonderland, Kesey was the author of One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest.
