He was known to have been a combatant in the Boer Wars and expressed a desire to return to war in the name of "King and Country". He made a fatal mistake when after a fight with the scarecrows Daughter of Mine, a member of the Family of Blood appeared and Rocastle, unaware that she was part of the Family, invited her into the school and was killed by her.
