Zayn's mother was an Alzarian. Her son Zayn was a friend of Adric.
One day while visiting, Adric asked Zayn's mother about dogs and pets. She was too young to have had a pet, but she remembered her grandparents talking about them. She told Adric about the Torris Plague that wiped out most of the dogs. (PROSE: A Boy's Tale)
