Hans Kesar wanted to be Emperor of Haddron and for the government to be an empire. He fought against the Republic in a vast battle. An explosion heralded the end of his career, as his face became completely emaciated. He was taken to a fortress prison on the outskirts of the Haddron Empire.

Milton Trayx, now the leader, came to watch over him, but the prison was under siege by VETAC robots. Kesar and Trayx had to work with the Doctor and his companions to try to escape. It turned out that Cruger himself had ordered the arrival of the robots so Kesar could become leader again. However, it wasn't Kesar in the mask after all, but Gerhart Rutger. Hans Kesar had been killed in the blast by that explosion after all. (PROSE: Dreams Of Empire)
