The Paranox Web was a sentient plant life that underwent a growth spurt when fed on the special plant feed floronite used widely across the Arboretum — a giant interstellar greenhouse of the distant future. It developed an insatiable hunger for flesh food that was only quelled when the floronite was diluted with water having the effect of reducing the plant to a seed-like state where it was safely removed by the Doctor and relocated on a lonely plant asteroid for company.
