Maddox was a student training at Sea Base 4. He was fitted with cybernetic implants to permit his mind to enter the base computers.
When Maddox fainted, he was taken to see the enemy agent Solow and thence to the base's medical bay where she re-programmed his brain and made him sabotage the computers. In doing so, Karina discovered him and he was was forced to kill her under the orders of Nilson, who worked for Solow.
He was eventually killed when Nilson overloaded his brain. (TV: Warriors of the Deep)
