Someone might want to point out references to the video game series "Portal."  The games take place in a scientific laboratory, where a computer named GLaDOS uses a human named Chell as a test subject with reckless abandon for safety, much as Gus does.  The line about "grief counseling" being available is a clear nod, as the game includes the line, "Cake and grief counseling will be available after the test." Everyone survived?
