A pineal manipulator was a device resembling a metal spider or insect which was used to extract a living person's consciousness and transmit it elsewhere. The Timewyrm gave Chad Boyle a pineal manipulator to extract Ace's consciousness and transmit it into the Seventh Doctor's mind. Afterward, Chad destroyed the device. (PROSE: Timewyrm: Revelation)
