Assault Dalek
Hi Tangerineduel, just a quick email about the deletion of the page Assault Dalek.
While I can see your point that this Dalek might not be considered a true variant but rather using a different arm attachment (presumably they are modular) I believe that this page should exist given that a toy was released by Character Options under this name. At the very least I think this deserves to be redirected to somewhere sensible.
Could you please drop me a message and tell me what you think. I am new to this Wiki and would value your guidance.

Re: Assualt Dalek
Hello again, thanks for the quick reply.
Merchandise is not explicitly mentioned on the canon policy page.
In most fandoms and idea of of secondary canon exists to cover events and concepts that exist in licensed works but have not been shown on TV (which most would consider primary). Clearly as the BBC has licensed Doctor Who to Character Options and has final approval over everything they release there is a certain amount of officiality (if I can use that made up word) about their products. They are clearly not fan fiction or fanon.
Perhaps there should be a top level category for merchandise.
I am aware of some of the funny Dapol oddities such as the green K-9 and the two armed Davros and would really like to see them covered since they are a somewhat amusing and fascinating footnotes in Doctor Who history.

Re Merchendise
Hello, Me again.
The Wiki I have the most experience with is: [[1]] They used to be on Wikia but moved on after a dispute about Wikia's advertising.
A few notable features of this Wiki are:
- Multiple universes - The franchise has been rebooted multiple times and some tales have been explictly labelled "what if" scenarios.
- There is no clear primary source for information (Comic, TV show, Toy bios)
- They allow and encourage humour as long as it doesn't interfere with the transmission of information.
See [[2]]
I'm not advocating adopting these policies since obviously since this isn't a one size fits all deal (also I don't have the history with this Wiki so its not cool to throw my weight around).
I like the idea that a Wiki can be a one stop reference for anything relevant to a subject. I feel like the critera for inclusion in a fandom Wiki should probably have something to do with either official recognition or strong fan support.
Information about Doctor Who merchandise was something I expected to find in this Wiki when I stumbled across it and indeed much content about merchandise already exists. See Character_Options_action_figures - this wasn't linked to from the Character Options page so I have started some articles which contain duplicate information. Whoops, I'll have a go at cleaning up the mes tomorrow (need slep for work tomorrow).
PS Could you please clarify for me the usage difference between the stub tag and the gone to pot tag?
Thanks for the dialogue.
Thanks
Thanks, sorry to carry on but is this the sort of stuff that help you become an admin?--Skittles the hog 14:10, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

I just genrally would like to be more widely excepted into the wiki, I'm trying to do some of that thing with the comics (currently the back up ones).--Skittles the hog 14:46, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
Yeah thats the kind of thing I want to do. I think im capable but in the end its up to you.--Skittles the hog 15:00, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
Yeah Grammar is a bit of a problem, I'll copy to words with large edits in future. That way I can check it. Am I really such a bad editor, I have been here for a while and if there's some way to check I’ve made huge amount (well about 100) of pages. I know that doesn’t really count for anything but does answer the question of what I’m proud of. Thanks --Skittles the hog 18:30, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
Reporting a vandal.
This anonymous user is inserting inane nonsense into articles. His edits have been repeatedly reverted. He needs to be exterminated. Trak Nar Ramble on 07:38, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
Quote of the Week
Please could you explain how i vote for a quote User:Frogger 2
Hi!
Two quickies, firstly, it seems we were right with Alonso with an 'S', and secondly any chance of copyrights for a general illustration that doesn't specify 'cover' and one for Doctor Who DVD Files. Incidently shouldn't BIT and DVD Files specifically mention GE Fabbri Ltd ?
just found and loved the Black Sheep page!
Update
I've just owned up to Azereal to interfering in Character Options!
The Character Options action figures page is getting too long and doesn't give enough information, AND because I wanted to expand Character Option merchandise generally I did the new Character Options page to give it a better structure.
I'd envisioned the contents from the existing Character Options action figures page, primarily photos, to be moved over to these new pages which will, now, (well done to Azereal for making a start!), include descriptions, variations and comments and eventually an illustrative photo of each!
Anyway, it is being tidied up and I bet it'll look good in abit and not gone to pot. Thought you might like to know. The Librarian 22:41, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for that, about the copyright tag - to put 'cover' just seemed a bit restrictive in some image examples I've used, and regarding 'illustrations' there's some undoctored (no pun intended) images I wanted to include (particularly those of Lee Sulivan), where the artwork may have been adopted across several items and belongs to the artist. Hope that's clearer. The Librarian 17:51, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
Thanks Again!
Would it be cheeky to ask you to add a copyright for The Darksmith Legacy ! Just got the first two (very easy reads, and I dont know yet where its going). The online site is 'intriguing' (if you are tempted to check it out you'll need to know DUSTY, ALIEN, END and MOON!!!). Thanks again and have you seen the Time Squad yet - and I thought the Adipose were cute! The Librarian 23:26, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
Concerning the Spelling of "Transsolar Disc"...
Sorry to bother you again, but this has been on my mind for a while. In all the printed material I have seen it in, "Transolar Disc" was always spelled with one s. I would have moved the article to the correct spelling, but figured that there was an updated printed source with the "Transsolar" spelling. So, instead, I left a message on the article's talk page concerning the spelling and made a redirect with the "Transolar" spelling. The single s spelling was seen in The Dalek Book, The Dalek Chronicles, The Dalek World, The Dalek Outer Space Book, various Dalek annuals, and The Dalek Survival Guide.
What is the source for the double-s spelling? If there is no source, could the article be moved over the redirect?
Thanks for your time. Trak Nar Ramble on 03:58, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
The Darksmith Legacy
re: book copyright tag. Yes I did think about the book one but it didnt seem appropriate for related screen grabs from the website. As I said I'm not sure what direction (book and website are going but I suspect illustrations are to be significant to the range as the year progresses and a specific tag would include the Party and related offers).
Sorry got another one for you, Character Options under merchandising licence and no not just for the action figures, but as the major toy licence holder I thought it should be recommended! Thanks again for another speedy response!! Do you ever sleep?! The Librarian 13:38, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
- :) I think my eyes have started to bleed, THATS just nasty! ...but I do think the wiki should be all-embrassing! Somebody might like it... personally, I cant think of any other colour which I have such a strong reaction to. Odd really!!! Anyway lucky you, over here its very cold, very wet and once again the snow seems to be out of my reach. Must be the only snow-free bubble in the country! The Librarian 00:13, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the help
I've been away from wikia for a while, so i'm still trying to remind myself how things work, cheers for your help.
