SS Bernice was a cargo ship, sailing from Bombay on 2nd June 1926. Two days later its crew vanished in the Indian Ocean. The abandoned vessel was later discovered, and the mystery behind the crew's disappearance was considered a minor variation on the Mary Celeste mystery. In truth the crew were abducted for display (aboard a detailed replica of the Bernice) inside Vorg's Mini-Scope. Thanks to the intervention of the Doctor, the crew were returned to their proper time and place, which resulted in the Bernice's notoriety being erased from history. (DW: Carnival of Monsters)
