Pope Leo XIII (2nd March 1810-20th July 1903), born Count Vincenzo Gioacchino Raffaele Luigi Pecci, was the 256th Pope of the Roman Catholic Church, reigning from 1878 to 1903. In 1887 Pope Leo's papal train intercepted the Orient Express, on which Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson were traveling through Austria. He asked Holmes to investigate the theft of certain books from the Library of St John the Beheaded in London, an assignment which Holmes accepted. (NA: All-Consuming Fire)
