- For the Doctor Who episode entitled "Air Lock", see Galaxy 4.
An airlock is a device which permits the passage of objects, people, and the like, between two drastically different environments, such as between a pressurized and vacuum environment or between an underwater and dry environment. The lock consists of two airtight doors in series which do not open simultaneously, allowing the intermediate chamber to change from one environment to the other.
