Jonathan Pryce played the Master in The Curse of Fatal Death, a spoof produced by the BBC in the 1990s for Comic Relief. He reportedly auditioned for the role of the Eighth Doctor in the 1996 TV movie. He was in the final ten, but was turned down in favour of Paul McGann.[source needed]
