Rumours

  • Ood Sigma Might return As an Ood has been seen around set but it could just be a random Ood
  • Being Mars, this might relate to the Ice Warriors.
  • This episode may feature a water-based villain as shown in the trailer.
  • The episode appears to be set in some kind of bio-dome filled with vegetation
  • David Tennant has been spotted while filming wearing a space suit identical to that of "The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit" hinting that it takes places roughly in the same time period. Spotting of an Ood also supports this theory.

Story Notes

  • This story will be set on the planet Mars as confirmed by the title.
  • Since Lindsay Duncan has been cast as a companon she is the oldest actress to play a companion from the beginning of the series, although her title will be taken away from her in the next episode when Bernard Cribbins becomes the Doctor's companion.
  • The cloister bell is heard ringing in the teaser, suggesting a universal catastrophe.

Filming Locations

  • Victoria Place, Newport
  • National Botanic Gardens of Wales, Carmarthenshire
