Caresh was a planet in a binary system.

A passing neutron star threatened to disrupt Caresh's orbit, making it uninhabitable. Lord Roche tried to change the neutron star's path to put Caresh into a closer orbit to Beacon, though that would cause the death of those living on Caresh's Southern Archipelago. With the Third Doctor's help, though, they moved Caresh into a closer, more stable orbit around Ember instead. (PROSE: The Suns of Caresh)
