I know timey wimey, rewrote history, blah blah, but it annoyed me that the denoument and significant plot point (they shouldn't be able to say 'mercy') has a clear counter-example that was also a significant plot point: The Dalek in "The Big Bang" begging Riversong for mercy, which establishes that Riversong is a bad ***.
