Rashida Dhawan was the captain of the Pollyanna. She refused to take the Pollyanna out of the way of the Umbra because she saw them as an important discovery. Clara Oswald eventually convinced that the humans on board had to fight back against the Umbra, as they could not be reasoned with. After Clara destroyed the navigation system on the flight deck to stop the Umbra from finding Earth, Captain Dhawan ordered her crew to head to auxiliary control, where she pointed out the crew could still navigate with the back-up systems.
