This individual is not to be confused with the Time Lord, The Master.

The Master, whose true name is unknown, was a human from 1920s Earth who wrote The Adventures of Captain Jack Harkaway for The Ensign. He wrote 5,000 words each week for 25 years. In 1926 when he must have fallen asleep writting, the Master Brain found him and connected him to the Land of Fiction where he became the Master of the Land.

After years of being in charge of the Land, the Doctor, Zoe, and Jamie arrived in the Land as part of the Master's plan to have the Doctor take his place. Using his power he put the three in tests to find if the Doctor could do it, controlling White Robots and giant Clockwork Soldiers. The Master Brain enslaved the Master and intended to add the Doctor to the system so that it could invade Earth and all humans would be adjusted to the Land, leaving Earth bare to be taken over.

Zoe and Jamie overloaded the Master Brain and the Doctor saved the Master from its destruction. Once the Master was disconnected, the Land dissolved. (DW: The Mind Robber)
