Torcaldians were the natives of Torcaldi. They were hermaphrodites.
A rift in time, known as Torcaldi's Bane, was draining the life force of the Torcaldians. The First Doctor helped to repair their computers, allowing them to live normal lifespans. (PROSE: The Ruins of Time)
