Gustavo Riviera was an old friend of the Seventh Doctor, due to the Doctor saving him during the Spanish Civil War. In 1997, he owned a bar in Ibiza, and gave Jude and Gabriel to set up The Rapture as he believed that Gabriel and Jude would give the directionless youths of Ibiza a purpose lacking in their lives. However, he realised that he had made a grave error by helping to fund the construction of the Rapture. He went to sort this out, but he and Gabriel fell from the DJ box and died.
