An officer was a member of the guards in Paris in 1572.

At the beginning of the St Bartholomew's Day massacre, the officer and a group of guards went to Admiral de Coligny's house with orders to kill the Admiral. He dismissed the two guards at the house and then entered the house with his guards. (TV: "Bell of Doom")
