Darrol Blake directed the Doctor Who television story The Stones of Blood.
Having previously worked on the Thames Television children's programme Rainbow, Blake asked a puppeteer with whom he worked on that show, John Thirtle and another, unidentified, puppeteer to provide the movements of the Megara in The Stones of Blood. Blake revealed this on the audio commentary he recorded for the DVD release.
