David Purcell played Abbott in the Doctor Who television story The Hand of Fear.
Purcell debuted in a 1971 episode of Doomwatch, after which he appeared on Z-Cars, Warship, Barlow at Large, The New Avengers, The Cleopatras and Bergerac. He also appeared in the film Juggernaut.
