Stewart Ransom was a 25th century human.
Ransom left Earth with other like-minded people to found a colony without advanced technology, as proposed by his daughter Kirann. He decided the colony would be based on the 19th century American wild west.
The planet he chose was Axista Four. However, this was where the Tyrenians artificially created by his colleague Gustav Tyren had settled. To cover up the now illegal results of genetic engineering, the Federation added battledroids to the colony ship, the Big Bang, to destroy the Tyrenians when the ship arrived.
The Big Bang was shot down by the Tyrenians when it reached Axista Four, but the preprogrammed battledroids wiped out most of them. The rest went into suspended animation. Ransom died in the crash. (PROSE: The Colony of Lies)
