For the 19th century reverend with the same name, see Aubrey Fairchild.

Aubrey Fairchild was British Prime Minister from 2008-2009, following the short tenure of "Harold Saxon".

Profile

Biography

Fairchild declared a state of emergency following the Mandragora Helix's attempt to take over the world. He was telephoned by Professor Brian "Ahab" Melville the night before on a secure line. During the Dalek invasion of Earth when escaping to an unknown location during the invasion, his plane lost contact with Torchwood 3, implying that it was destroyed during the fighting with the Daleks. (DW: The Stolen Earth)

By late 2009, Brian Green had succeeded him as Prime Minister. (TW: Children of Earth: Day One)

Other information

The Doctor, when asking about Fairchild, declared that this Prime Minister "clearly makes no impression on history". (NSA: Beautiful Chaos)

Behind the Scenes

Alternate draft

Originally Fairchild was to meet a Dalek saucer descending on Westminster, before being exterminated. Jack Harkness, at Torchwood 3 in Cardiff would have urged the Prime Minister not to do it. The scene was dropped at an early draft, partly for time but partly because Russell T Davies thought the Daleks wouldn't be "so diplomatic".[1]
