Major Bryan Carpenter was a UNIT officer. He was replaced by a Vardan and was helping Mortimus.
He was unaware that other soldiers called him "Karen", after Karen Carpenter. When Alex Pike told the Seventh Doctor and the Time Lord did not recognise the reference, Pike said he must be an alien. (PROSE: No Future)
