Project Pitt Stop was a NASA programme that was led by Adelaide Brooke. It "used the Moon as a refuelling base for further planetary exploration", according to one of Brooke's online obituaries. The project was deemed successful. Unmanned shuttles launched from the moon were sent to Neptune and Jupiter which greatly enhanced humanity's knowledge of those planets in the 21st century.
