The Voynich manuscript was a very old document that was rediscovered by Wilfred Voynich in 1912. It had been traced as far back as the 17th century, in the library of John Dee, but was much older.
George Tremayne was assigned to work on the Voynich manuscript and gave a speech on a small discovery he made, that Roger Bacon had been one of the transcribers of the document in the 13th century. (PROSE: Ancient Whispers)
