Alpha Centauri was the home planet of the Alpha Centauran race. It was also a part of the Galactic Federation and served as its headquarters in 3375. (DW: The Curse of Peladon, The Monster of Peladon, MA: The Dark Path)
Alpha Centauri may also have been the base for the Alpha Centauran Table Tennis Club, if the club is galactic. (DW: Robot)
- It may be that the Alpha Centaurans came from the "system" Alpha Centauri and that their home world is not called so.
Behind the scenes
A non-canonical reference to Alpha Centauri occurs in a Doctor Who mini-scene broadcast in 2009 during the talent show Tonight's the Night, in which Jack Harkness states he once went to a party there. The scene is not considered canonical as the actors break character.
