After a full [[regenerative cycle]] and thirteen regenerations produced only men, this Doctor was the first female incarnation of any regeneration cycle. However, the Doctor barely had a chance to react to her new face before the TARDIS, damaged from her predecessor's explosive regeneration, fell out of her control and sent her tumbling out.
