Ray Stobbs was the captain of Delchester United in 1977. He was not used by Milo and Frank Shakespeare when they hypnotised the rest of his team. Stobbs aided the Eighth Doctor in defeating the Shakespeares, using his football skills to beat them back. (COMIC: Doctor Who and the Nightmare Game)
