Rickston Slade was an arrogant and selfish businessman that was aboard the Starship Titanic when it was sabotaged. He ended up as one of the few survivors, along with the doctor. He ended up a wealthier man after the Titanic's disaster having previously transferred all of his shares into rival companies of Max Capricorn. Due to his inappropriate satisfaction at the conclusion of the Titanic's voyage, Bayldon Copper pointed out to the Doctor that of all the people to survive, Rickston would not be the one the Doctor would have chosen. But acknowledged that if the Doctor could decide who lived and who died, it would make him a monster.

Rickston was also a bully, as he kept offending Foon Van Hoff and her husband Morvin Van Hoff, even when they were all fighting for survival. (DW: Voyage of the Damned)
