Roland Treece was a village headsman and one of the first settlers of Christmas prior to the existence of the Truth Field, roughly 150 years before the Eleventh Doctor's arrival on the planet. After his daughter was sacrificed by her husband, Jalen Fellwood, he erected a band of "righteous men" and killed Jalen.
Roland helped to bury Jalen's body in an unmarked grave and cover the ground around the grave in salt to prevent his spirit from coming back to seek revenge. (PROSE: The Dreaming)
