Caplan was the head guard at the castle owned by Lord and Lady Ernhardt. He worked with the Eleventh Doctor and Olga Bordmann to defend against an attack by Cybermen from a crashed Cyber-ship. He was also the father of Jedka, a girl who attended Olga's school. (PROSE: Plague of the Cybermen)
