Martha was a native of the Amazon rainforest. She was born in 1810.

Some time before 1817, something happened to Martha's family. Father Julio saved her and brought her to a village in the Amazon rainforest. Martha started to work there.

In 1827, she still worked at the village. She had fallen in love with Father Carrass, who took over the job as a priest after Father Julio had died. In his order she gave the Eleventh Doctor, Amy Pond and Rory Williams some food and a place to rest in the village.

When Father Carrass was abducted by the Nadurni and screamed that the devil had come for him Martha thought it was her fault that he had gone. The Doctor told her that this was not true. When Carrass returned Martha was the first one who went to him. She thanked the Doctor for sending Carrass back to her. (AUDIO: The Eye of the Jungle)
